Driver fined $1,000 for string of offences

A man was fined $1,000 for a string of traffic offences committed over a three-year period.

Gaerich Kipps, 36, pleaded guilty to ignoring a stop sign, driving without a licence, driving without a seatbelt, and two counts of speeding.

Magistrates’ Court heard that the defendant, from Sandys, ignored a stop sign in December 2015.

He was also stopped for driving at 60km/h in September 2016 and driving at 65km/h without a licence on Christmas Eve that year. The speed limit is 35km/h.

Kipps was caught driving without a seatbelt in November of last year.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo fined Kipps $600 for the two speeding charges.

He was also fined $300 and given four demerit points for driving without a licence and failure to wear a seatbelt, as well as $100 for ignoring a stop sign.
