We need to sort out Dockyard
Whose bright idea was it to use asphalt instead of concrete for the new cycle parking area in Dockyard?
Whose bright idea was it to replace the fast ferries on the Dockyard-to-Hamilton route with the Bermudian ferry to save money on fuel?
Whose bright idea was it to close the Visitor Information Centre building in Dockyard, where you purchase transportation tokens and passes at 4pm every day when you have hundreds of tourists who use the ferries and buses after 4pm?
Last but not least: whose bright idea was it to have only one ferry passenger control employee in Dockyard this year? Last year there were three!
I will have to say, though, that Dennis Outerbridge, the only passenger control employee, does an outstanding job of trying to get our many cruise ship passengers on and off the ferries. He never complains.
Not that he had asked us, but last Thursday, myself and another Bermudian gentleman decided to help him out and answer the many questions that the many hundreds of cruise ship passengers were asking, and we did it because it was the right thing to do.
As I am retired, I am up at Dockyard every Monday through Friday, so I am in contact with a lot of the cruise ship passengers. It is a big mistake to inconvenience these people, so the tourism minister needs to resolve these problems asap.
