Up for the cup: Hood coach John Barry Nusum

PHC Zebras and Robin Hood will do battle in a cup semi-final for the third straight time this season when the two sides meet in the FA Cup semi-final double-header at Somerset Cricket Club tonight.

Promotion hopefuls Paget Lions and Southampton Rangers will meet in the other semi-final pitting two First Division sides together.

The Zebras got the better of Hood in both the Dudley Eve Trophy and Friendship Trophy semi-finals earlier this season, with PHC going on to win both titles.

PHC also beat Hood in the Charity Cup at the beginning of the season while the teams drew both league fixtures.

John Barry-Nusum, the Hood coach, said his team are up for the challenge.

“To be honest the FA Cup is where our focus has been,” he said.

“For us, the FA is an opportunity to see if we can get some silverware, but we have to go through PHC to try to get it.

“They have taken care of us all season in the semi-finals [Dudley Eve and Friendship] so we’re looking to get something on them at least once this season and this is our opportunity.”

Zebras and Hood go into the tie fresh off of shutout wins over Boulevard and North Village, respectively, at the weekend.

The two Premier Division rivals will face off in the second FA Cup semi-final, starting at 9pm.

Meanwhile, Paget and Rangers will meet for the fourth time this season in the preceding semi-final that gets under way at 7pm.

The two sides drew their two league fixtures, with Rangers edging Lions 2-1 on their way to claiming the Shield Trophy at Wellington Oval on New Year’s Day.

Lions will have a psychological advantage over Rangers going into the match, having claimed the Premier Division scalps of Devonshire Cougars and North Village en route to the last four.

The double-header will be moved to tomorrow should the games be postponed because of bad weather.
