    Reportedly attracting interest: Nathan Trott

Manchester United and Manchester City are among the clubs who have reportedly shown an interest in acquiring the services of West Ham United’s promising Bermudian goalkeeper Nathan Trott.

According to the Daily Mirror, United and City along with German side RB Leipzig have the 19-year-old goalkeeper on their radar.

Trott signed an initial 2½-year deal with West Ham in January 2016, which has since been extended until 2020, and has established himself as the No 1 for the club’s Premier League 2 side.

He ticked another box on his journey as a professional footballer after being named on the bench in West Ham’s Premier League match away to City at the Etihad Stadium last December.

“It’s always good being involved with the first team and hopefully I can get more opportunities like this in the future,” Trott, who was an unused substitute during his team’s 2-1 defeat, told The Royal Gazette at the time.

According the Daily Mirror report, several clubs were keen to acquire Trott on loan in the last transfer window but West Ham would not budge, opting instead to have him remain as their third choice.

The former BAA player was a member of the England squad that won last year’s European Under-19 Championship in Georgia and since then has been capped five times for England Under-20.

He is among a trio of goalkeepers battling for a place in Paul Simpson’s under-20 squad for today’s home international friendly against Italy at AFC Fylde in Lancashire.

Trott did not concede a goal in his first four appearances for the England U-20s but saw his impressive streak of clean sheets come to a halt in a 3-1 loss away to Holland in an international friendly last month.

Today’s clash with the Italians will be the first of two matches inside of five days for England, who are away to the Czech Republic on Monday.

“We have two really good games coming up,” Simpson told thefa.com.

“Italy showed what a top side they can be during last summer’s U19 Euros when they finished as runners-up, while Czech Republic will be a tough test too.”

Simpson has added new faces to his squad since their previous outing against the Dutch. Eberechi Eze, the Queens Park Rangers forward, and Kyle Edwards, the West Bromwich Albion forward, are among the newcomers, while goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has returned from injury.

“We have a very similar squad to last month and are pleased to welcome Aaron Ramsdale back after injury,” Simpson added.

“We have a couple of new faces in Kyle Edwards and Eberechi Eze, both of whom have impressed at their clubs so far this season.

“We’re also really pleased for Reiss Nelson with his-call up to the under-21s, as it shows to all the players that the opportunity is there for them across the England pathway.”
