Trey Mallory has reached the quarter-finals of the boys’ singles competition in the J4 Guatemala/Copa Universidad Galileo, which is part of the ITF World Junior Tennis Tour.

Mallory, the island’s top-ranked junior, beat John Chinn, the leading Jamaican junior, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 in the opening match yesterday before defeating Kurt Miller, of the United States, 6-3, 7-5 today.

The 17-year-old is scheduled to play his quarter-final match today.

Mallory competed in the in J4 Queretaro in Mexico last week, where he stunned the No 1 seed Emiliano González 6-3, 6-3 in front of his home crowd.
